The Decade of ‘Li’l Abner’ and New Beginnings in Art and Life.

1950

Frank became friends with a group of artists, Al Williamson, Nick Meglin, Angelo Torres and Roy Krenkel. Their friend group later became know locally as “The Fleagle Gang.”

1952

Frank secured a job working on the action-packed newspaper comic strip, Johnny Comet. He met Eleanor Doris Kelly soon after and they began dating.

1954

Al capp hired Frank to be his ghost artist for Li’l Abner. Thisn same year Frank worked with Bill Gaines at EC Comics.

1955

Frank Frazetta’s first solo cover for EC Comics was published by Bill Gaines for “Weird Science-Fantasy #29”.

1956

Frank coincidentally married Eleanor on Sadie Hawkin’s Day, an American folk event and pseudo-holiday originated by Al Capp’s and Li’l Abner.
