Frank Frazetta Featured in TASCHEN’s New Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Book
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and TASCHEN have announced a major new publication celebrating the museum’s inaugural exhibition and its opening in Los Angeles on September 22, 2026.
Created as an exploration of visual storytelling across centuries, the publication connects painting, illustration, photography, comics, children’s books and cinema. Frank Frazetta’s work is featured alongside artists including Norman Rockwell, N. C. Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, Thomas Hart Benton and Jessie Willcox Smith.
The collection includes texts by Lucas Museum cofounder George Lucas and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, with an introduction by Lucas Museum Senior Curator Ryan Linkof.
A Two-Volume Celebration of Narrative Art
At the center of the project is TASCHEN’s two-volume Classic edition, produced as the definitive presentation of the Lucas Museum’s collection. Frank Frazetta is featured on one of the two book covers, placing his artwork at the forefront of this sweeping history of narrative art.
The books are organized thematically, drawing connections between artists, eras and different forms of visual storytelling. A dedicated cinema section examines the visual world of Star Wars through original concept art, production artwork, costumes and vehicles.
Additional formats include a more compact Edition 45 and a miniature Piccolo edition available exclusively through Lucas Museum retail locations.
Frank Frazetta and the Art of Visual Storytelling
Frank Frazetta’s paintings rarely captured only a single moment. Each image suggested an entire world beyond the canvas—a history, a conflict and a story unfolding before and after the scene.
His work transformed the visual language of fantasy and influenced generations of illustrators, filmmakers, comic artists, musicians and storytellers. Frazetta’s inclusion in the Lucas Museum’s inaugural publication recognizes that lasting impact and places his work within the broader history of narrative art.
The museum’s inaugural exhibitions will also include a dedicated Frazetta presentation featuring selected illustrations and book covers.
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art
Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is devoted to the ways stories are communicated through images. Its collection spans fine art, illustration, comics, photography, cinema and popular culture.
The museum will open September 22, 2026, in Los Angeles’s Exposition Park.
