Jongor Fights Back Print
About the Original Artwork:
Jongor Fights Back
Frank Frazetta Jongor Fights Back Paperback Book Cover Painting Original Art (Popular Library, 1967). The fantastic "lost world" (located in the vast outback of Australia) that jungle lord Jongor called home never looked better than in the power-packed paperback book covers painted by Frank Frazetta. The books themselves may not have been the equal of works by Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert E. Howard, but never mind that -- writer Robert Moore Williams could have filled the pages of this particular book with nursery rhymes, and we fanboys would still buy it, for the cover alone.
This classic cover is certainly a fan favorite, perhaps the best of the three Jongor covers Frazetta completed. It's an instantly recognizable image, with the heroic Jongor aiming his arrow at a group of pterodactyls flying by, while a gorgeous woman hangs on to the massive lizard creature that both are riding. This is fantasy art at its very finest, by the undisputed master of the genre -- Frank Frazetta.
