At The Earth's Core (Plate VII)
Plate VII of "Opar Press Presents Burroughs Artist Frank Frazetta" showcases artwork that has garnered praise from critics as some of Frazetta's most exceptional ink work. This plate holds a special place as part of the very first Frank Frazetta Portfolio, which was released five years ahead of the Middle Earth's Frank Frazetta Portfolio. The portfolio consisted of eight double-sided 11x15 inch plates, featuring a captivating collection of 16 black and white Frazetta illustrations. Published in 1968, this portfolio was brought to fruition by Camille Cazedessus, Jr., the esteemed publisher of the long-running Edgar Rice Burroughs fanzine ERB-dom, which later evolved into The Fantasy Collector (and subsequently The Fantastic Collector) and Pulpdom.
