About the Artwork

Frank Frazetta created Warrior with Ball and Chain in 1973 as the cover for Flashing Swords! #1. The painting sets an armored warrior on a steep rocky ledge, raising a spiked flail as shadowed forms close around him. The Norman Rockwell Museum’s Illustration History record identifies the original as oil on illustration board, with a 23 × 19-inch image area.
